Local PDF comparison for macOS
Compare the revision.
Keep the evidence.
Align PDF pages, review bounded visual and extracted-text changes, keep inserted or uncertain pages explicit, and export a reproducible receipt without uploading the documents.
Inside the actual app
Every comparison stays inspectable.
The native workspace keeps source hashes and page matches on the left, aligned baseline and revision evidence in the center, and tolerances, text changes and human-review boundaries on the right.
Built for the real handoff
One focused app.
Four jobs done.
Design and production reviews
Confirm what moved or changed before approving a client-facing PDF revision.
Procurement and operations
Attach a reproducible receipt to a quote, specification or controlled-document handoff.
Publishing teams
Review inserted pages, text deltas and layout shifts without uploading unpublished content.
Regulated handoffs
Keep uncertainty and source hashes visible while leaving the actual approval decision to a person.

From first record
to finished handoff.
Choose baseline and revision
Open two PDFs or two folders. DiffReceipt hashes every source and pairs folder files only by their deterministic relative path.
Review aligned evidence
Inspect sequence-aware page matches, visual regions, extracted-text additions and removals, insertions, removals and explicit review states.
Export the change receipt
Write a readable PDF, Markdown, structured JSON and a checksum manifest containing the tolerances and untouched-source hashes.
Focused by design
Useful depth.
No account clutter.
Sequence-aware page matching
Use geometry, page labels, content and visual fingerprints while preserving inserted, removed and low-confidence outcomes.
Aligned visual comparison
Normalize page geometry, search a bounded translation window and expose side-by-side, overlay and blink review modes.
Bounded change regions
Group above-threshold raster differences into reviewable page regions instead of presenting one unexplained score.
Extracted-text evidence
List added and removed lines with counts and bounded examples; never confuse extraction with semantic proof.
Portable evidence bundle
Export PDF, Markdown and JSON receipts plus a manifest of source and generated-file SHA-256 hashes.

DiffReceipt FAQ
What kinds of PDFs can DiffReceipt compare?+
The MVP compares ordinary local PDF files individually or as same-path pairs in two folders. It reads crop-box geometry, extracted text and rendered page evidence without editing the source files.
How does DiffReceipt match pages after an insertion or removal?+
It uses a sequence-preserving score from page geometry, labels, extracted content and low-resolution visual fingerprints. Inserted, removed and low-confidence pages remain explicit rather than being forced into a match.
Can I tune visual comparison noise?+
Yes. Pixel delta, ignored page margins, alignment search and noise coverage are visible controls. The exact values are recorded in every exported receipt.
Does an unchanged result prove the PDFs are semantically identical?+
No. DiffReceipt reports raster, extracted-text, geometry and hash evidence. Visual equality does not prove semantic equality, and unsupported or uncertain evidence stays marked for review.
What does a change receipt contain?+
Exports include a readable PDF, Markdown and structured JSON receipt plus a manifest containing SHA-256 hashes for every source and generated artifact.
Are my PDF files uploaded or modified?+
No. Comparison and receipt generation run locally in the current native build. Sources are read in place, hashed and left untouched; the receipt is written only to the folder you choose.
How much will DiffReceipt cost?+
The planned launch price is US$29 as a one-time purchase for one Mac. Checkout opens only after Developer ID signing, Apple notarization and final release QA are complete.
